Verizon's Motorola Droid users now have the ability to manually update their handsets to Android 2.1. Download the binary file, rename it, upload it to your microSD card, and reboot to the recovery mode screen. The rest of the process is self-explanatory.Download the ROM here.

The iDEN-capable Android-powered Motorola i1 is now available to SouthernLINC customers in Alabama, Georgia, or the western half of Florida. Hopefully, other carriers (Sprint) will also pick it up soon.

For those unaware, the Motorola Devour is currently available from Verizon for $149.99 after a $100 rebate (mail-in, if you buy it from store) on a new two-year contract. Interesting fact: it's $50 cheaper to buy a Droid online today than it is to buy a Devour in-store. Know what you're choosing.

The Android 2.1 update for the European version of Motorola Milestone is now available. Users in Europe have received a notice that an OTA update is available to unlock features, such as multiple home-screens, Google Earth, and other stuff that's included with the latest version of Android.

In case you didn't know, Motorola Milestone with Android 2.1 is available in select European countries. The first carrier to have released the device was Bulgarian Vivacom.

The Motorola XT701 aka Motoroi has been recently released on China Unicom, with WCDMA radio and Android 2.0 on-board, and is now selling for ¥4,299.

The Motorola i890 from Sprint Nextel is an new iDEN handset capable of switching from a push-to-talk conversation to an interconnect voice call. It sports a 2Mpix camera with 4x digital zoom, a mp3 music player, external haptic-feedback media keys, and stereo Bluetooth connectivity, and is available now for $129.99 with a 2-year contract and a $50 mail-in-rebate.

Sprint Nextel started selling the Motorola i890. It's a stylish flip phone which supports Nextel's Direct Connect and push-to-talk services, such as Group Connect, Direct Talk, Direct Send, and has the following featutres:

• microSD cards up to 8GB;
• Java applications;
• Speakerphone;

The i890 is available for $130 after rebates with new contract.

Motorola Canada announced that its Backflip, DEXT and Quench handsets will all be available from "all three national wireless carriers" in the first half of the year. However, we don't know yet which carrier will get which phone, how much they will cost, or when they'll be on shelves exactly.
