Mozilla unveils a $33 smartphone in India

We’ve told you about the $38 Firefox OS phone called Spice Fire One Mi – FX 1. That, apparently, won’t be the cheapest device running Mozilla’s mobile platform.The maker of the Firefox web browser has announced an even more affordable model, the $33 Intex Cloud FX.Specs of this device include a 1GHz Spreadtrum 6821 processor that is coupled with just 128MB of RAM and 46MB of storage, expandable with microSD cards.

Despite pursuing its own platform (Firefox OS), Mozilla also wants a piece of the “Android pie.”The company has invested in the launcher app called Everything.me, which will be rebranded and offered as Firefox Launcher for Android.The launcher will integrate the Firefox web browser and EverythingMe’s contextual search into a single experience. This, somewhat vague description leaves us looking for more answers.

According to the latest news, ZTE is collaborating with Mozilla on a Firefox powered smartphone.It would debut in Brazil first before crossing the ocean all the way over to Europe.As Cheng Lixin, Chief Executive Officer of ZTE USA said, the device could be launched in U.S. also this year.

Mozilla "Fennec" alpha browser now available for Android and Nokia N900

Mozilla has issued alpha versions of its Firefox Mobile browser, better known as Fennec, for Nokia N900 and Android powered smartphones. Fennec for Android works on Android 2.0 or later and requires 30MB of available internal storage. There are both ARMv7 and ARMv5 CPU optimized builds available. Also, expect some bugs to occur, since its an alpha build.

Firefox 1.1 beta for Maemo Released

Mozilla has issued the Firefox 1.1 beta for Maemo devices. New key features include portrait browsing, form auto-complete, a context menu, volume key zoom, and the capability to save pages straight to PDF. If you don't have a N810 or N900, you can download the browser for Windows, Mac OS, or Linux and check it out.

Good news for Nokia N900 and N810 users: Mozilla has released the first official verison (1.0) of the Firefox for Mobile browser, which is now available for download.New features include Weave Sync, which syncs your bookmarks, tabs, history and passwords across devices, Flash support (disabled by default due to high resourse usage), and more.

Firefox RC3 for Maemo Launched

Mozilla launched the third Release Candidate version of its Firefox browser for Maemo-based devices. Some brief highlights: improved overall performance, including more responsive panning and faster zooming in on web pages, the Awesome Bar now pops up faster when you tap on it. Note that plug-ins are now disabled by default (due to slowdowns), but you can always enable them in the app's settings.
