Microsoft has extended Nokia's license to include Microsoft PlayReady in its future S60 and S40 mobile phones. PlayReady digital rights management technology allows users to easily transfer multimedia content between devices such as mobile phones and computers. The technology supports most standard media formats, and is fully compatible with previous Windows DRM content.

The famous finnish cell phone maker Nokia had invested much in India already. And now Nokia is opening a new design studio in Bangalore.
According to Nokia's representative:
The studio, also the company’s first anywhere in the world, will explore a range of design trends and themes, including detailed research into colour and material trends in India.

FCC has approved the new Nokia's Bluetooth GPS Module LD-4W. This is a GPS add-on for Nokia's smartphones with Bluetooth support and for the Nokia 770 phone. The company already has a GPS-enabled smartphone, the N95, but not everyone can afford it. So the add-on was an excellent solution.

Despite that all information about the device is strictly confidential, one photo leaked though.

The Nokia's Assisted GPS (A-GPS) service allows Nokia Maps users to quickly find their current locations and get to their destinations faster “by decreasing the time wasted while they wait for a first fix”. In addition, by using a technical framework that works in tandem with Nokia's service, cellular operators can provide their own regional A-GPS services “making fix times even faster in certain areas”.

Skype software is now compatible with the Nokia N800 Internet Tablet, allowing you to make free voice and video calls and send instant messages to other Skype users, or to call cheaper on mobile or landline phones from anywhere there is Wi-Fi connection available.

Skype support for Nokia N800 is included in the latest OS feature upgrade, which also comes with Adobe Flash 9 browser plug-in, support for large capacity memory cards and other useful improvements.

Here's something unique from Nokia, the 7500 Prism phone, presented recently in China. It is designed in diamond style, as you can see on the photo, and has pretty usual specs, such as 2Mpix camera, microSD slot, a QVGA screen and a S40 OS (v. 5.0). All this with a diamond shaped keyboard.

The Nokia 7500 Prism was approved by FCC and will soon be available for purchase.

Nokia Siemens Networks plans to launch a new 3G femto cell product in early 2008. It is called 3G Femto Home Access, and appears to be a miniature base station (similar to Wi-Fi router), which will enhance WCDMA coverage in consumers' homes. The device uses broadband internet connection to provide wireless connectivity. It also uses a new gateway allowing multiple carriers to offer the solution.

Immersion announced that Nokia is now licensed for the use of its VibeTonz technology.

Currently this technology comes integrated in some of the Samsung's and LG's phones (including touchscreen models), and in Motorola's RAZR2.

VibeTonz provides vibration feedback for touchscreen interfaces, games, ringtones and other phone related uses.
