Espoo, Finland and Geneva, Switzerland - Nokia (NYSE: NOK) and STMicroelectronics (NYSE:STM) today announced the closing of their deal, announced on August 8th, to deepen their collaboration on the licensing and supply of integrated circuit designs and modem technologies for 3G and its evolution. The closing of the multifaceted agreement transfers a core part of Nokia's Integrated Circuit (IC) operations to STMicroelectronics and positions ST to design and manufacture 3G chipsets based on Nokia's modem technologies, energy management and RF (radio frequency) technology and to deliver complete solutions to Nokia and the open market.

Nokia Music Store became available in the UK. Now any owner of the Nokia N95 ar N81 handset will be able to wirelessly download music tracks directly to his phone. Each track costs 80 pence, and the whole album will cost you 8 pounds. Quite pricey, don't you think? Anyway, there's no doubt that the service will be popular; it has a nice interface and a decent media library.

The FCC has recently released several photos of the upcoming Nokia 3555 3G mobile phone. Apparently this is a lower-end version of the Nokia 6555 model available on AT&T's 3G network. They look the same, but 3555 features a less advanced VGA camera, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, quad-band GSM and dual-band WCDMA connectivity, as well as Nokia's newest S40 interface with IM and e-mail support.

Nokia announced the grand opening of the first Nokia Flagship Store in Mainland China, the only stand-alone Nokia Flagship Store and the largest in the world. The Nokia Shanghai Flagship Store is the seventh of 18 planned Flagship Stores and is the second in the region following the opening of the premier Asia Pacific Flagship Store in Hong Kong. Five Chinese celebrities served as Nokia ambassadors at the opening ceremony - Hu Yan Bing, VJ Li Chen, An Yu Xuan, Du Cong, and Lian Du.
