Nokia E55 hits the FCC

Nokia E55 hits the FCC

FCC has approved the new Nokia E55, which is basically an updated variant of the E52 with more keys. It supports HSPA 900/2100MHz, which makes the phone useless in the U.S. if you want high data speeds. There's always EDGE, but it's hardly a consolation.

It will be available soon for €265 (about $371 USD).

Nokia 7020 approved by FCC

FCC has approved the new Nokia 7020 clamshell, which is on its way to a Q4 release. It is a low-end quadband GSM/EDGE device, packed with a 2Mpix camera and... not much else. It looks like it will be selling through Nokia flagship stores at a low price, since no carrier has anoounced the phone for its network.

FCC has recently approved the stylish Nokia 5530 XpressMusic, which means the U.S. release will probably take place in the near future. Unfortunately, the handset doesn't support 3G, leaving us with just EDGE and Wi-Fi, in exchange for cheap unlocked retail price. That said, it will still sell pretty good.

Nokia 3720 Announced

Nokia 3720 Announced

As expected, Nokia has made its rugged 3720 classic official yesterday. According to the press release, the handset will indeed be IP54 certified for water, dust and shock, and will sport features such as an integrated LED flashlight, 2.2" display, 2Mpix camera with flash, microSD card slot (1GB card included) and extended battery life.

The Nokia 3720 will be out later this summer in a choice of several colors at an SRP of €125 ($174 USD) before taxes and subsidies.

Here are some videos of the unannounced rugged Nokia 3720 classic handset being dunked in beer, smacked with a golf club, punted through the air, drowned in a pool and even dropped two stories off a ladder — and after all that “it’s still working!” It's said to be IP54-certified, and can operate in a variety of harsh environments. The release is rumored to take place in September.

Nokia N97 15% cheaper, Now at Amazon

Despite the relatively recent launch, the Nokia N97 is already available at Amazon with 15% off. The new price is $599.99 with free shipping, but even so the unlocked version still costs too much for an the average buyer. Such handsets like Apple3GS, the Palm Pre and the BlackBerry Storm cost less.Amazon also offers unlocked Nokia N79, 5800XpressMusic and the E71 for $300. The N85 is now $330.

Pricing includes a free deal, that is if you agree for £35+ monthly instalments. The unlocked version will cost you £319.
