T-Mobile USA has introduced the new Nokia 5300 Xpress Music. The 5300 is available exclusively from T-Mobile and is designed for the mass market, unlike Nokia's popular N-Series devices. The device is rather a regular Nokia mobile phone, but it may also be marketed as a music device. It is available in both Lilac and Black. Nokia addresses a request to European courts to declare Qualcomm Inc.’s patents in Europe finished thus giving Nokia the possibility to sell handsets in Europe having chips by Texas Instruments Inc. otherwise Nokia would be obliged to pay royalties to Qualcomm.
Nokia presented a patent portfolio license between Qualcomm and TI, made in 2000, to two European courts, one in Mannheim, Germany, the other in the Hague District Court in The Netherlands.

Nokia E90 Communicator got the FCC approval. Nokia E90 is going to be released by T-Mobile soon. Although not offering 3G T-mobile says the handset will support such bands as' 850, 1700, and 1900MHz bands on a WCDMA network and 850 and 1900 in GSM. According to the announcement from Nokia and Siemens they start a joint venture in Germany to compete with Ericsson. In this team up will take part Nokia’s handsets and Siemens network carrier-related operations. Nokia Siemens Networks will provide mobile services with the equipment that they need to provide more content quickly to subscribers. Nokia sells phones in 130 countries and employs 62,000 people while Siemens is Europe’s largest electronics and electrical engineering company, and employs more than 460,000 people.

Nokia announced that the Nokia Software Updater application is now available from selected Nokia local support web pages as well as http://www.nokia.com/softwareupdate . After a successful trial run last year, Nokia is expanding the program to enable people to update their own mobile device software without having to visit a service point. So far, over three quarters of a million people have updated their Nokia device using Nokia Software Updater.
