NTT DoCoMo and KTF announced they're planning to release a new Android-powered handset next year in Japan. The device is not ready yet, but when it's released, they say it will cost cheaper than its western counterparts.
Who knows, but it seems that at this rate Google's OS will soon conquer the whole world, just like the iPhone.

FCC has approved a new Japanese cameraphone form Sharp, the SH-01A. It features an 8Mpix CCD sensor, a 28-mm wide angle lens, Dolby Pro Logic II, and MicroSD slot for storing media. The phone will be available first from NTT DoCoMo in Japan, and sometime later in the U.S.

Now that's a phone with a truly Japanese look, the new Sony Ericsson SO-01A for NTT DoCoMo. Apparently this model won't leave the borders of Japan, but I sure would like to play with it a bit. Anyway, at the moment we know almost nothing about this handset, but according to the source it does have Google Translator and a full touchscreen. We would also add 3G support to the list.

Today NTT DoCoMo and RIM have announced that the BlackBerry Bold will soon be available in Japan, in early 2009 to be exact.
They said It will have all the same features available on other Bolds, with the addition of HSDPA support.

NTT DOCOMO and AT&T announced yesterday that they've copleted the extention of AT&T's 3G W-CDMA mobile network to all principal islands in the U.S. state of Hawaii, including Oahu, Hawaii, Maui, Lanai, Molokai and Kauai. Thus, Hawaiian NTT DOCOMO subscribers now have access to data and voice roaming services in these areas.
The following DOCOMO handsets currently support international roaming services in the Hawaiian Islands: SH905iTV, SH906i, F906i, SO906i, N906iμ, SH906iTV, NM705i, NM706i, hTc Z and HT1100.

The divice is called Fujitsu F884iES, and integrates such features as pedometer, pulsimeter, 3-axis accelometer, and even a Health Diary. Other specifications include dual displays, a 2Mpix camera, and of course a built-in media player.

Japanese NTT DoCoMo has established its new subsidiary, DOCOMO China Co., Ltd, in Shanghai, China. It will begin its operation sometime in the end of July and will focus on “providing mobile solutions for corporate customers, especially locally based Japanese companies”.
That's good, but what's in it for average end users? Guess we'll have to wait and see.

NTT DoCoMo will be the first to offer the new Sony SO706i cell phone. It will be released in Japan on July 4, and will be priced at about 40,000 Yen (~$380 or ~240 Euros). No word on the availability in other regions.
