Garmin-Asus have once again delayed their G60 Nuvifone. This time the release is expected sometime in the second half of this year.

The first announced of the G60 took place in January 2008, the phone has been delayed several times already.

Garmin Asus partnership is appearently starting to afford, as they've announced the upcoming release of the Nuvifone G60. The device will be released in the first half of 2009, though no carrier, availability or pricing details were provided.

Features include:

• 3.5" touchscreen display;
• HSDPA/3G connectivity;
• Bluetoo

A set of new UI screenshots of the upcoming Garmin Nuvifone has surfaced today. I must say the interface looks very appealing, and hopefully the device will run Android as its OS. Enjoy!

The waiting will soon be over, as the FCC has approved the longed-for Garmin Nuvifone. It will support 850/1900 MHz 3G bands, so the Notrth American launch is imminent. Hopefully, we'll see it live during the first half of 2009.

Not surprisingly, Garmin announced it will delay the launch of its Nuvifone until early 2009.

According to the press release, meeting some of the carrier specific requirements will take longer than expected, but the the GPS manufacturer is said to be working on the necessary design changes to meet these requirements.

Well, in this case we expect to see a fully functional handset in the end.

Laptop Mag has made a 5 minute video preview of the upcoming and higly anticipated Nuvifone by Garmin. The device shown is a prototype, but it's good enough to keep us salivating and waiting for the Q4 release. Check out the video below.

 

Thanks to Engadget today we know the presumable price for the AT&T's Garmin Nuvifone. One reader discovered it in a Garmin survey, when he was asked the following question:

"Now, how likely would you be to buy the Garmin nüvifone (for yourself or as a gift) if offered by AT&T for $499.99 with a two year contract? You would be required to have both a data plan that would include unlimited Internet browsing and unlimited Navigation for $19.

GPS manufacturer Garmin has just unveiled the nuvifone, their brand new PND with 3G cell phone functionality (or vise versa).

It has a large touch-screen for input and is packed with Google services, such as Local Search, Gmail and Panaramio. In addition, it offers two cool GPS-based features: “Where am I?”, which helps users orient in space, and the so called ”Dude, where’s my car?” - tells drivers where they’ve parked their vehicles.
