Some clever hackers have somehow managed to install the Android OS onto an Omnia i900. Don't get too excited, though, as this is the first build, which is very glitchy and unfunctional. Still, if you feel like testing it, you can download the latest software build here.

Samsung is in the spotlight today. They've introduced several new handsets, two of which are the Omnia II (I8000), the successor to the first model, and the the scaled down Omnia LITE (B7300). Both have some impressive features:

Today at CommunicAsia Samsung has officially announced its new QWERTY slider, the Omnia Pro B7610, also known as B7610 Louvre. They didn't name any exact release dates, but according to the previous rumors, the phone should be available to business customers sometime in July with the price ranging somewhere between €250 and €500.

The phone you see in the pic is apparently the new Samsung GT-I8000, which was first spotted about half a month ago at the FCC site. Well, according to the source, it has another name - the Samsung OMNIA II. Yes, this could be the successor to the all-so-popular Omnia handset. Here are some of its confirmed specifications:

Verizon's Samsung Omnia owners can now upgrade their handset to Windows Mobile 6.5, as an unofficial WM6.5 ROM has surfaced online yesterday. The GSM version of the said ROM was available for a while now, and the new CDMA works fine and stable as well. Visit Modaco's website for installation instructions if you're ready to flash your handset.

According to hdblog.it, Samsung will be releasing a QWERTY sporting Omnia Pro handset this year, but they didn't give the exact release date. The phone is said to feature:

Today Bell has officially launched the Samsung Omnia. The pricing is as follows:

• $499.95 on a 1-year contract with a $45 minimum Voice & Data plan;
• $549.95 outright

Telus has made available the Samsung OMNIA for its customers today. You all probably know what it is, but here's a quick rundown of its specs anyway.

Some sources report that Bell will be launching the popular Samsung Omnia for its customers sometime between April 9th and 12th. Unfortunately, the price is unknown at the moment, but it shouldn't be more than $200, as this is the highest the price for a smartphone goes in Canada.
