Samsung has introduced its upcoming Omnia HD. The device is an 8Mpix cameraphone, and comes with the following features:

• 8Mpix camera;
• Video capture: 1280 x 720 @ 24fps;
• HDMI out;
• 3.7" touchscreen display;
• HSUPA data;
• GPS;
• Bluetooth;
• 8 or 16GB or storage;
• microSDHC car

Before we get to the MWC related news, we should inform you that Verizon is now offering the Samsung Omnia at $99.99 on its website. This price includes a $70 online-only discount and the customary 2-year contract. Choosing the 1-year contract will cost you $169, while the full retail price of the phone is $559.

Samsung decided to upgrade its popular Omnia smartphone by increasing it's internal memory capacity to 16GB. The newer version has been spotted online today, and will be released very soon. Features include:

• Quad-band GSM / GPRS / EDGE (850/900/1800/1900 MHz), Single-band UMTS / HSDPA (2100 MHz - HSDPA up to 7.2 Mbps) connectivity;
• Graphics chip with 3D acceleration and support for Direct 3D;

Samsung's i900 Omnia is soon to reach Russia under the name of Samsung WiTu. It may sound very different, basically it's still the original Omnia.

It will be available only in the 16GB variant and will have widgets with shortcuts to popular Russian websites. The exact release date is unknown yet.

Samsung Omnia has become the first DivX certified handset in the U.S. This basically means that Omnia users will be able to watch DivX videos on the phone's large 3.2" touchscreen display, regardless of whether the video file is stored in the device’s memory or memory card.

Today Verizon Wireless has announced the anticipated CDMA Samsung Omnia today. It should be be available for order this week, and the full retail release is scheduled for December 8. The phone isn't cheap, though: prepare to spend $249.99 after rebate on a 2-year commitment.

The following information is not confirmed yet, but judging by the above picture the upcoming Verizon’s Samsung Omnia will still feature Wi-Fi functionality, unlike we previously thought. This is definitely good news for those who'll be getting the device. Hopefully there won't be any last minute changes, as the lack of Wi-Fi is a deal-breaker for many...

As you can see, the Samsung’s Omnia will soon be showing up at Verizon Wireless.

The exact release date is unknown at the moment, but the whole idea to release the phone now defenitely isn't the best, as Verizon's BlackBerry Storm is just around the corner.

Verizon-branded Samsung Omnia has been spotted today. Engadget has posted a blurry spy shot, proving that the phone exists. One can clearly see the Verizon logo, as well as VZ Navigator and Visual Voice Mail icons on the screen, so there can be no doubts.

The guy who took the picture says the phone will be available by the end of the year and will feature a 5Mpix camera and 8GB of internal storage.
