A SprintUsers forums member has posted some information regarding an upcoming Palm Pre software update, which due to be out “on or near 7/22/09”. He said that he received the list of changes through an e-mail from Sprint.

According to that list, it seems the demo software currently installed on the Pre will de deleted after the update is applied. Moreover, Facebook users will be able to keep their friends synchronized with a PC.

A PreCentral forum member nicknamed Cleanser has managed to unlock his Palm Pre to support voice calls and SMS service on Verizon. Data network access is still unavailable, but he's working on it. It sure won't be easy, though. Cleanser said that the hardest part was getting someone to add his device's MEID to the system.

Either way, there's already one webOS device that works on a carrier other than Sprint.

Here's the first official press photo of the GSM Palm Pre. Now it's clear that Movistar will be selling the handset in Spain. We should note that Movistar, like O2 UK, is owned by Telefonica, which apparently got an exclusive right to offer the Pre in Europe.

According to The Guardian, the GSM Palm Pre will soon be available in the UK from O2. The official announcement is expected take place sometime next week. Stay tuned for more details.

ZodTTD, the author of some of the best game emulators for the iPhone, came up with a PS1 emu (psx4all) for the popular Palm Pre. He said that application performs better on the Pre, and has proper key-based controls. There are still some glitches and imperfections, but they should be treated in the nearest future.

It's really nice to see a functional GSM Palm Pre, even if the video was made in Vietnam, and this version of the handset wasn't even officially announced. Check it out below:

Palm has released a webOS 1.0.4 firmware update for the Palm Pre. The update is available OTA and addresses some corporate Exchange issues, plugs the “homebrew app” loophole, and fixes some other bugs. Check it out for yourself.

Here's a nice rumor for ya: there is a story on the Wall Street Journal Blogs which says that the Palm Pre will be available on Verizon Wireless in January 2010. As you know, for the next six months the device will be available exclusively from Sprint, but if Verizon CEO Lowell McAdam is to be believed, they'll be the next carrier to offer it. We'll wait and see.

If you already own a Palm Pre, you can now download and install the official 1.0.2 update and see what the changes are. Supposedly, it makes the system more stable and adds a new alarm clock, as far as we know.

Use the Update option under the programs menu to download the new version of the WebOS (67MB). You may continue using your handset while downloading.

AT&T will apparently be the next carrier to get a hold of Palm Pre, according to the carrier's CEO Randall Stephenson. He stated that AT&T will pick up the handset when its exclusivity to Sprint expires. Nice to know!
