As a result of a patent dispute between Broadcom and Qualcomm, which the latter recently lost, the US International Trade Commission (ITC) has banned the import and sale of all new 3G phones with Qualcomm's chips.

It means that the release of all new CDMA, WCDMA or HSDPA models with Qualcomm chips will be temporarily stopped. Older 3G phone models already launched in the U.

AT&T decided to accelerate their rebranding campaign at Cingular Wireless stores. The release of the iPhone is getting closer, and the company wants to take full advantage from its launch.

Apple iPhone's release is scheduled on the second half of June. Before that time AT&T will renovate the interiors of their 1800 stores and will replace Cingular name with new AT&T logo.

Motorola isn't done accessorizing the RAZR--the company will soon start shipping laser-etched (AKA tattooed) RAZR handsets. The artwork was designed by Ami James, best known from the TV show Miami Ink.

Motorola first got the idea for tattoos after the pink RAZR outsold all expectations. Since that time several other colors have shipped, but the pink model continues to sell well. There should be several tattoo designs, but the design shown at right is the only one that has been shown off.
