Apparently, the
launch of the anticipated RIM BlackBerry 9000 will be delayed until
July or August, instead of late May as previously rumored.
The device
will be available from AT&T and will feature integrated GPS,
Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, 2 or 3.2
megapixel camera, as well as support for GSM and 3G HSDPA networks.

T-Mobile announced the
availability of the new BlackBerry 8820 for its HotSpot@Home service line-up.
The smartphone is Wi-Fi- and GPS-capable, and takes
advantage of Blackberry Maps, as well as TeleNav and myFaves
services.
This model lacks the camera, which could mean that 8820 is
a business device. Other features include microSD slot supporting up
to 4GB, Bluetooth, voice dialing and many more.

RIM BlackBerry fans in the U.S. will be happy to hear that AT&T has finally started selling the good old BlackBerry Pearl 8120. It is not the best smartphone there is, but still it's a good compact mid-range business messenger. The 8120 is basically the updated 8110 model, and comes with a 2Mpix camera, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, upgraded web browser, etc, but unfortunately lacks GPS support.

Research In Motion came up with a new lock-and-key system for its BlackBerry smartphones that have an on-board camera. The idea is to lock-down and disable the camera while users stay in the office in order to prevent any corporate info leakages. RIM has filled in a patent application with the intention to implement the idea in practice.

On February 16, RIM (Research In Motion) has filled a lawsuit against Motorola accusing the company in multiple patent infringements and anticompetitive practices. Motorola in its turn continues to use RIM's patents and refuses to acknowledge or pay for them. Just to let you know, Motorola was the first to sue RIM by the same reason.

The company used X2 Coating technology, which is basically a scratch resistant liquid plastic covering. It protects the phone from scratches and ultra-violet rays, which can damage the color.
