Following its new trend to replace model numbers with words, Verizon has renamed the Samsung U740 into "Alias".

No explanation was given for the name change.

Just to remind you, the SCH-U740 aka Alias is a thin clamshell phone with a 1.

The Samsung Anycall L258 is a new candy-bar phone with a stylish metallic-silver and black exterior launched today in Hong Kong at a price of HK$2,180. Here's a full set of its features:

Fido started offering two mid-range handsets - Nokia 6555 and Samsung SGH-E747.

The first one is a clamshell phone with a 1.3Mpix camera, QVGA display, stereo Bluetooth, microSD slot (1GB microSD card included), and a 1020 mAh battery, while the other is a slider equipped with a 2Mpix camera and a 880 mAh battery.

Samsung launched its new G400, a dual-screen 3.5G-capable clamshell phone.

It supports tri-band GSM and HSDPA (2100, 7.2 Mbps) networks, has a 2.22" touch-screen display, and integrates a 5Mpix camera.

The G400 will be available in Europe starting this June.

We have several new live pictures of the Softbank 920SC phone, manufactured by Samsung.

It features a 5Mpix AF camera with Xenon flash and is unlocked for use outside of Japan.

The handset is currently available in Hong Kong for about $440.

 

Samsung SGH-i200 is a sleek and slim mid-range 3G-capable smartphone, designed for the masses.

The device is pretty cool; too bad it doesn’t support Wi-Fi of GPS, as the rest of features are very decent.

So, here's what it offers:

• 11.8mm thickness;
• Windows Mobile 6.

Remember the Samsung i550 ? This sleek GPS-enabled candybar phone has a nice set of features, with the exception of the lacking Wi-Fi...

It was a major blow, but today the company has announced the new i550w, the same i550 model only updated with Wi-Fi connectivity.

 

According to reports, starting late March Verizon will begin selling the new Samsung U940 CDMA mobile phone as the Verizon Glyde.

I guess this is the case when a new name can supposedly attract more attention to an already known handset.

Samsung Guru100 is a new low-end handset for the Indian market.

It has a candybar form-factor and offers basic features, such as a small 128x128 resolution display, speakerphone, support for MP3 ringtones, SMS messaging, mobile tracker, Hinglish language support, phonebook for 500 contacts, and 9-hour battery life.

The Guru100 will soon be available in India for $50.

Vodafone has recently added Samsung SGH-i640v to its smartphone lineup.

This WM6-based device was announced back in September 2007, and features a 2Mpix camera, full QWERTY keyboard, HSDPA support, but lacks Wi-Fi connectivity, which is a major downside unless you're on an unlimited data plan. Depending on the contract, the i640v could be yours from free to £150.
