The first mention of the Sharp's Sidekick 4 (a.k.a. Shuriken) dates back to August 2007. Earlier this month at CES 2008 it has finally been presented as a new PDA, the Sharp PV250. The device has a swiveling display, which can be viewed in different angles, a QWERTY keyboard, a 1.3Mpix camera, and a microSD slot.

Sharp has developed the world's thinnest LCD display for mobile devices, called Mobile Advanced Super View LCD. The panel measures 2.2" (240 x 320) diagonal at a mere 0.68mm thick. Despite its thickness the new display has pretty impressive characteristics providing outstanding image quality thanks to a high contrast ratio of 2000:1, viewing angle of 176 degrees, and response speed of 8 ms, which are among the highest levels in the industry.

Sharp SH-920 Aquos is a new cell phone that uses the same LCD technology found in the range of Sharp Aquos LCD TVs. The phone's large 3.2" display has a resolution of 480 x 854 px, contrast ratio of 2000:1, and support for up to 26 million colors. Furthermore, thanks to the integrated 1Seg tuner the SH-920 allows users to watch movies and TV programs in widescreen 16:9 aspect ratio.

Sharp has introduced its new PDA phone, the so called Advanced/W-Zero3. The handset, when closed, looks like an ordinary candy bar cell phone, but when you open it, it reveals a QWERTY keyboard and a large 3" WVGA (800x480) screen. Other features include Windows Mobile 6 OS, Wi-Fi connectivity, Web browser, Microsoft Office Mobile and the ability to read business cards via the in-built 1.

T-Mobile has just announced two Sidekick phones, the LX and Slide. Both are quad-band GSM/EDGE handsets with Bluetooth connectivity, microSD slot (4GB max), 1.3Mpix cameras, and the new mobile MySpace application. The LX, manufactured by Sharp, is a successor to the Sidekick 3 featuring a 3" WQVGA screen, 128MB microSD card and camera flash.

Apparently, Sharp plans to release a new handset in Germany through Vodafone. The phone is called Sharp 880SH, a 3G slider supporting HSDPA/EDGE/GPRS networks, which means that users will be able watch hi-res QVGA video streams directly on the handset. Other features include a 2.2" QVGA LCD display, 2Mpix photo/video camera, a media player, of course, and FM receiver for more entertainment.
