Nokia N78 Approved by FCC; Comes to AT&T

FCC has just approved the new Nokia N78 for U.S. largest carrier AT&T.

This is a mid-range Symbian-based smartphone working on GSM 850/1900 bands and featuring a 3.2Mpix camera, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, AGPS support, FM radio, and other stuff.

RIM's Camera Lock for BlackBerry Handsets

Research In Motion came up with a new lock-and-key system for its BlackBerry smartphones that have an on-board camera.

The idea is to lock-down and disable the camera while users stay in the office in order to prevent any corporate info leakages. RIM has filled in a patent application with the intention to implement the idea in practice.

Acer to Acquire E-Ten

Acer to Acquire E-Ten

Acer, a major PC maker, announced today that it is ready to buy E-Ten, manufacturer of the Glofiish Windows Mobile smartphones.

The deal will amount to approximately $290 million and is expected to close during the third quarter of 2008.

Acer believes that by combining its technology with E-Ten's it can advance the mobile computing market.
