Global Certification Forum (GCF) has approved a new smartphone, developed by Asus for O2, the O2 Xda Zest. Currently the details are scarce, we only know that it will run Windows Mobile, like all Xda's, and will feature tri-band GSM/UMTS 2100 radios, as well as video telephony and web browsing. As expected, Samsung has anounced its i740 smartphone. As expected, it will lack 3G support and Wi-Fi, instead it will offer EDGE, GPS, a 3.2Mpix camera, FM radio and other nice stuff, which however won't make me wanna buy the handset...Nevertheless, if you like the i740 you'll be able to get it for €300 ($469) when it launches in Europe in October.

Idnes.cz reports that Samsung is preparing yet another full touchscreen smartphone with the model number SGH-i740.
The i740 is the sucessor to the i710 model, and, according to the source, shouldn't be expensive, as it lacks such important features like support for 3G, Wi-Fi and even EDGE(!). Wow, that leaves us only with GPRS.
