Girl sent 14,258 SMS messages in December

Wow, some people seem to have no life at all. A 14 year old girl Reina Hardesty has sent 14,258 text messages in December, which equals to 470 a day, or one every two minutes. Her parents found out about this after they've received a 440-page bill from AT&T. Fortunately for them she used an unlimited texting plan, phew... Plus, now she also won't be able to send text messages during nighttime.

Weird Anti-Lice SMS Campaign in the UK

LOL, check this out! A completely bizarre SMS campaign called "Beat the Bugs" has been launched recently in the U.K.

Every week during a certain period of time parents get an SMS message with a reminder to check their children's hair for head lice... No comment on that.

Anyway, six cases of lice were actually found, and participants say they are now more aware about treatment/prevention and that they check their kids' heads at least once a week.

AT&T to Raise Prices for SMS/MMS

Just great...

AT&T announced it will raise prices for SMS and MMS messages starting March 30, 2008.

However, changes will not affect subscribers who are on a message plan; those who use the pay-per-message option will see a $.05 rate increase for both SMS and MMS.

Support for SMS Threads on Nokia's S60-based Smartphones

Nokia has developed an application called Conversations for its S60 3rd Edition E-Series and N-Series devices.

It groups incoming SMS messages by sender and separates them from each other by creating message threads. This allows to maintain the on-going SMS conversation with any person from the contact list.

Cingular increases SMS price to 15 cents

The price for an SMS message will constitute a 50% price increase Cingular announced . From January 21st SMS messages will cost 15 cents for both sending and receiving. The same move was made by Sprint back in October.

Although, the price increase is high, Cingular customers will not be able to cancel their contracts.

Tourists can speak even Thai lang using Mobile translate SMS

The Bangkok Post reported very interesting news it says that any tourists travelling to Thailand now have a possibility to communicate with local people through an SMS-based service providing English-to-Thai translation via mobile phones.

Thailand is the first country where SMS translation services are introduced under PockTranslate brand by Norway Pock Mobile.
