Those guys over at xda-developers are geniuses. Check this out: one of the members has managed to port the HTC's TouchFLO 3D user interface to Sony Ericsson Xperia X1! And the main thing is that you can actually choose between the TouchFLO and the default X1's interface when you feel like it. The first version of the port will probably be buggy, but the later builds are expected to be stable and functional.
