Sprint has just announced to its customers a new device by Kyocera - rugged Kyocera Torque smartphone.The Android 4.0-powered device is built-upon Kyocera’s Dura series of rugged devices, that includes 810G (MilSpec) and IP67 standards.The device features a 4-inch WVGA (800 x 480) LCD IPS capacitive touchscreen with impact-resistant glass, a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon dual-core processor, 4GB ROM, 1GB RAM, Sprint Direct Connect push-to-talk service and microSD expansion up to 32GB.

The carrier has confirmed to Android Central that it's freezing its Upgrade Now program, which lets subscribers pay extra for a quicker hardware refresh than usual.The company asks that we "check back later" to see if Upgrade Now returns. No doubt many customers would rather have it be matter of when, not if, they can resume upgrading on a quicker schedule.

Sprint today announced a new rugged device called the Sonim XP Strike.It is the first Sonim handset to be sold by Sprint, and it has impressive military-spec rate of 810G, a 6-foot drop to concrete, as well as a 30-minute soak in water that’s two meters deep.The specs are kind of limited, as features include a 2-megapixel camera with flash, Bluetooth, FM radio receiver, GPS, and support for microSD cards.

The highly anticipated Jelly Bean update is finally available for Sprint's HTC EVO 4G LTE.You have to manually make the phone check for updates by going to “Settings” -> “System updates” -> “HTC software update” and finally tapping the “Check Now” button.The carrier will start sending push notifications to the users starting January 3rd.
