Samsung Ace SPH-I325 Unveiled by Sprint

Sprint has just unveiled the new Samsung Ace SPH-I325, or the BlackJack World Edition, which turned out to be a real surprise for us.

It isn't the best phone from Samsung, but it's a good addition to the carrier's handset lineup. Features of the SPH-I325 include a 1.3Mpix camera, QWERTY keyboard, QVGA display, and microSD slot (maybe).

Motorola i335 Budget Phone from Sprint

Motorola i335 is a new entry-level handset available now from Sprint.

The phone comes in a very slim design measuring just 0.5" thick and has a small square display with a 130x130 pixel resolution. Although the device lacks most of the important features present at any modern mobile handset, it still offers Bluetooth 1.

FCC Threatens to Shut Down Sprint iDEN Network

FCC threatens to shut down the Sprint's iDEN network because the 800MHz spectrum it uses interferes with public safety channels.

Several years ago Sprint was offered to move the network to another spectrum, and the carrier has already spent about $1 billion for that purpose, but now FCC says that the process of transition is slow and off schedule.

Motorola Q2 from Sprint

Sprint began advertising the new Motorola Q2, which is basically the same model as the Q9m from Verizon , just a bit customized.

The phone should feature CDMA connectivity, Windows Mobile 6 OS, Bluetooth, miniSD slot, and 1.3Mpix camera.

It will cost $150 with a 2-year agreement.

Sprint Rolls-Out WiMax

Sprint is looking for the best way to roll-out its WiMax network and start improving its core business.

The company has several choices, which include moving forward as planned, merging with Clearwire, selling the WiMax unit to Clearwire, or selling it to investors.

According to Sprint, they are committed to WiMax, but can't make firm plans until they hire a new CEO.

Sprint Nextel Loses Customers

Sprint Nextel recently reported a 77% loss in profit in Q3 2007.

They lost 337,000 subscribers and made only $64 million during the previous quarter. According to Sprint, this is the biggest customer loss since 2005.

Sprint's Boost Unlimited Plans Expand to 10 More States

Sprint's Boost Unlimited calling plans are now available in 10 more states, including Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Nevada, North Carolina, Oklahoma, and Tennessee.

The prices range between $45 and $55 depending on the plan, and if a subscriber leaves his home region, a minute will cost him 15 cents.

Sprint to Offer EV-DO HTC Touch

Starting November 4th Sprint will begin selling the HTC Touch (EV-DO version).

This model doesn't differ from the GMS-based one, and features a large touch-screen, HTC's TouchFLO interface, microSD slot, stereo Bluetooth, 2Mpix camera, runs on Windows Mobile 6 Professional OS, and will include support for Sprint's Music Store, video content and On-Demand services.

Sanyo S1 Now Sells at RadioShack

RadioShack retail store network started offering the new Sanyo S1.

This slim candybar phone supports Sprint Vision services and Java applications, and comes with Bluetooth that supports dial-up networking, speakerphone, and uses microUSB connection for charging and data transfer.

Sprint, S1's official carrier, won't be selling the handset through its retailers until January.
