Sprint customers now have the ability to make online purchases using their cell phones.

The company has opened a mobile Web portal designed for shoppers, where they can easily compare prices or buy about 7 million products from 30 online retailers, including Wal-Mart Stores, Target, bluefly.com and shoes.com. For convenience, customers can also open a Mobile Shopper account on the site to save their shipping address and credit card info with a secure PIN.

Just to let you know, Sprint BlackBerry Pearl will feature Sprint TV service that will allow customers to watch live hi-res TV programs directly on their device.

Let's hope Verizon in its turn will also offer V Cast ESPN MobileTV service on the BlackBerry 8130.

Sprint Nextel Corp, which recently said it would spend up to $5 billion on a mobile high-speed wireless standard by 2010, said it had awarded the New York WiMax market to Samsung Electronics Co.

Sprint has released MOTORAZR2 V9m in the U.S.

It is the first V-series phone in the American market, and one of the Sprint's most expensive ones. You can get it for $250 after a 2-year service agreement with the carrier.

The V9m has a slim clamshell design and comes with a set of usual features, including two QVGA displays (internal and external), microSD slot, microUSB, Stereo Bluetooth, EV-DO and GPS.

Sprint announced today that the name Nextel Direct Connect will represent Sprint's product portfolio of push-to-talk service and devices, regardless of network platform or device type. Additionally, Sprint plans to expand the Nextel Direct Connect portfolio in early 2008 with new device choices and capabilities, giving customers a wider variety of phones to meet their productivity needs.

Sprint has recently announced the new LG LX160 mobile phone, an updated version of the previous LX150 model. This clamshell combines stylish design with all the essential features, including Bluetooth support, one-touch speakerphone, voice-activated dialing and a dedicated text messaging key, for a very affordable price.

Sprint announced the new HTC PPC-6800 Mogul smartphone is the successor for the older PPC-6700 model, and is targeted at business users. This one is probably the most powerful business communicator available for Sprint. The Mogul specs are as following:

Check out these two new Motorola walkie-talkie phones for Sprint, called the ic602 and i335.

The ic602 is a successor to the Blend/Buzz line of CDMA/iDEN hybrid phones. It comes in a clamshell design and features a digicam added to the Buzz's monochrome secondary display.

Sprint and Google are working together on a new mobile Internet portal, which uses WiMax wireless technology to offer Web search and social networking. Sprint network bandwidth, location detection and presence capabilities will be matched with Google's popular communications suite - Google Apps - that includes Gmail, Google Calendar and Google Talk services.

Sprint works on a new walkie-talkie service for its Revision A CDMA network. Last week the company successfully completed a walkie-talkie call between an iDEN and a CDMA phone.

The new service will obviously be compatible with both iDEN and CDMA handsets and is scheduled to be launched in 2008.
