T-Mobile UK has suddnly decided to rename its version of the HTC Hero to G2 Touch, as its second Android-based handset. The source of this info is T-Mobile UK's official Twitter account, which in particular announced that the G2 Touch would be free on a £40 per month (about $65) contract of 18 months.

What happened to the G1 brand, you ask? Well, currently it's unclear, but we presume some future Android phone with a QWERTY keyboard will bear this name.

HTC Dash 3G aka Maple/S522/Snap has appeared on T-Mobile's website. You can order one now either for $349.99, or for just $169.99 on a two-year contract.

T-Mobile USA's CTO Cole Brodman, speaking today at an event in New York said that the company "has no plans to bring the HTC Hero to market" in the U.S. Instead they will be offering the HTC myTouch 3G.

Starting today, the Android-powered T-Mobile myTouch 3G is available for pre-order, so don't waste time and and click the ‘Pre-order now’ button right away! The handset costs $199.99, with a guaranteed delivery date of August 5th. Existing customers can go ahead and place their pre-orders until July 28th.

TmoNews has managed to get their hands on some sort of slide according to which the HTC's latest AWS-capable superphone will be available starting August 12, and not earlier as originally expected. So there's a month left to wait. Just to remind you, the myTouch 3G will launch this month. look it up, maybe you'll find it interesting.
