Android 5.0 Lollipop will land on the NVIDIA Shield Tablet soon, NVIDIA announced today. The sweet update will begin rolling out on November 18th to the beefy gaming tablet.The company hasn’t announced when exactly Lollipop will land on the Shield Portable, but it shouldn’t be long now.NVIDIA’s GRID streaming gaming system is all ready to roll as well, launching in the U.S. this month.

NVIDIA Shield Portable Software Update Live

A software update for the NVIDIA Shield portable is currently rolling out, and sadly it’s not the sought after Android 5.0 Lollipop update.NVIDIA has promised Lollipop for Shield Tablet owners by the end of November, but hasn’t mentioned the time frame for Lollipop’s rollout to the Shield Portable.Here’s what you’ll find in upgrade 99 for the Shield Portable:

  •     Improves battery drain when SHIELD portable lid is closed
  •     Updates the latest SHIELD hub app available on Google Play Store
  •     Fixes a bug that does not allow videos to be played from Facebook, using Browser or Chrome, or on the YouTube app
  •     Fixes a bug to enable support for 4K content in Console Mode.

Of course, the 8 incher makes a number of sacrifices to keep the price bar so low, most notably settling for a modest 1 gig of RAM and far from impressive Intel Atom Z3735G Bay Trail processor.Available with a stylus and protective folio bundled for $229.99, the Venue 8 Pro 3000 isn’t as professional-friendly as the name suggests.

Android 5.0 Lollipop will make its way to the NVIDIA Shield soon. There’s no word on when Lillipop will land on the gaming tablet, but it’s going to be one of the first devices to receive Google’s new update.NVIDIA’s promising more than just Lillipop with the new update, although they haven’t said exactly what ‘more’ really is. More than likely the added software will bring bug fixes and compatibility fixes to make the Shield Tablet play nice with Android Lollipop.

The earlier leaked HTC Volantis has cleared the regulatory barriers in South Korea and is now officially ready to be sold in the Samsung land.Korean RRA (Radio Research Agency) gave the tablet its seal of approval.Unlike earlier Nexus products that were affordable first, great second – this model will be great first, and perhaps even not that affordable.This unit will pack a top-notch hardware, pretty much making it the Android L poster child.

Google is working on a Project Tango tablet, according to the Wall Street Journal.We’re not sure how tablet is better than the smartphone prototype the company has developed and can only imagine that the extra space is used to house even more sensors.These tablets will be handed out to select group of developers, which in turn should make some crazy things with them.3D is obviously emerging as “next cool thing” for major technology companies and Google, obviously, doesn’t want to be left behind.
