Synaptics MobileTouch Technology

The new Synaptics MobileTouch Technology is very similar to the touch pad technology seen on laptops. Now it is also available on mobile phones.

For example, the Huawei U550 flip cell phone features a backlit three-button MobileTouch interface, which is basically an external music player control panel allowing users to play, pause, fast forward and rewind music.

New Magnetic Display Technology

Scientists at the University of California have developed a new display technology that uses a liquid filled with highly charged plastic-coated iron oxide particles, which by repelling one another form an ordered structure called colloidal photonic crystal. This substance can then be controlled with a magnet placed behind it.

The microscopic spacing between the particles allows them to reflect light.

Kyocera works over WiMAX technology

Kyocera Wireless is going to work over a project in order to develop such new consumer electronic devices that make use of mobile WiMAX technology. Kyocera is cooperating with Runcom to provide the WiMAX marketplace with its expertise in OFDMA (orthagonal frequency-division multiplexing) and mobile WiMAX technology.

As Kyocera said that with WiMAX delivering high-speed broadband wirelessly to larger areas, it thinks some companies will end up choosing WiMAX because it will outshine current 3G data networks.

LCD technology from Samsung

There is a new LCD technology announced by Samsung to create the thinnest display at the same time increasing durability. The new LCD incorporates the screen, and a protective layer technology into a unit 0.82mm thick. The new protective layer rests against the glass of the LCD screen which can reduce the thickness of a phone by 1-2.

Motorola is buying wireless e-mail provider Good Technology

Motorola, a major mobile phone vendor, reported about the buying of wireless e-mail provider Good Technology Inc. Ron Garriques, president of Motorola's Mobile Devices business said that the Good Technology would advance Motorola's vision of seamless mobility. Motorola explains that Good will be a part of its Mobile Device business unit.

Sprint Chooses QChat technology for PTT

Sprint announced about its decision to use Qualcomm's QChat technology for its next generation Push To Talk (PTT) service giving QChat phones the possibility to communicate with each other as well as iDEN PTT handsets on Nextel network. QChat is expected to offer exceptional call set-up performance and bandwidth savings. By launching QChat in conjunction with its Revision A network, which has quality of service features and other new technology to improve speed and reliability, Sprint should be able to match the performance users expect from iDEN phones.

Sprint tests new MediaFLO technology

Qualcomm's MediaFLO mobile TV technology is under the tests by Sprint. Sprint Vue is known as a new mobile TV test but without any information about the technology. MediaFLO is a multicast standard that is being built-out by Qualcomm.

Gina Lombardi, president of MediaFLO USA , reported: "MediaFLO USA offers operators a dedicated multicast system that enables them to deliver large amounts of high-quality mobile content to subscribers without having to build out and maintain their own networks.

“Wibree” from Nokia outstanding Bluetooth technology

A new short-range wireless connection was uncovered by Nokia being smaller and more energy-efficient than current Bluetooth technology that is possible to be used in small devices such as watches.

Nokia Research Center developed a new technology called “Wibree” that can work together with Bluetooth short-range wireless connections and using just a fraction of the power.

Samsung to Demonstrate 4G Mobile Technology

Samsung announced its plan to demonstrate 4th Generation (4G) mobile technology at the annual Samsung 4G Forum in Jeju Island, Korea for the first time in the world.

Demonstration will take place at the specially designed bus in mobile circumstances reaching 100 Mbps data transmission as well as at the display area inside forum venue to show speeds of 1 Gbps of data transmission.
