The device here looks like some modification of the HTC Touch HD dubbed the T8290. Apparently it supports WiMAX and was supposedly developed for Russia’s Yota WiMax network. Details are scarce at the moment, but we'll keep you up-to-date. Here's what we know about the handset's specifications:

• GSM and WiMax support;
• 3.8" 800 x 480 touch-sensitive display;
• Wi-Fi 802.

A portion of bad news: HTC announced today that thier anticipated Touch HD won't be released in the U.S. because of the large amount of time needed to launch the North American 3G version into mass production. Tough luck... However, they say the've got some other cool devices coming up soon. How do you like that?

The authors of the review complain that the device has no flash and that it's relative large, but overall the Touch HD is a "must have" handset. Check out the video review below (in Deutsch), or read the translation of it by Google.

A French retailer' site offers the HTC Touch Diamond in a variety of new colors, including Blue, Pink, Brown, Red, White, Yellow, and Purple. It's your choice. The only color that's missing here is apparently green. :)

Some sources report that HTC’s Touch HD will be soon available from the Italian carrier TIM. If you're already glad you're an Italian, don't get too excited as the price of €849 (about $1195) will most likely cross out all your intentions. But no one cancelled the carrier's subsidies, right?

While the HTC Touch Dual isn't new, Canadian Telus has decided to add it to its lineup only yesterday. Here's the pricing:

• $199 with a 3 year contract;
• $299 with a 2 year contract;
• $349.99 with a 1 year contract;
• $399.99 contract free

 

According to the leaked Verizon document sneaked by Engadget, the company won't release the BlackBerry Storm and the HTC Touch Diamond before November 2nd  and December 3rd, respectively.

Why? Because these dates are when they plan to finish the pre-launch internal training for each device.

So there's a chance we'll see the BB Storm during the first week of November.

Following Telus, Canadian Bell is getting ready for the upcoming launch of its own version of the HTC's CDMA Touch Diamond. The device will most likely be released on October 15th with a price tag of $149.99 CAD on a 2-year contract with a $45 minimum monthly plan, or $449.99 sans contract.

News Brief: The FCC has given the nod of approval to the highly anticpated HTC Touch HD. The handset sports the model number BLAC100, and will be also known as the Blackstone.
