According to a secret e-mail message sent to a limited number of people, Palm intends to start beta testing of its new handset.
In particular, the company is inviting "seasoned business professionals" who constantly use Wi-Fi and spend much time working on email and on the phone. The new phone is most likely the Treo 800w, a WiFi-enabled Windows Mobile 6.

Palm's CEO Ed
Colligan announced that the company will not release any new Windows
Mobile Treo's this quarter, which means we probably won't see the
much anticipated Palm Treo 800w in the nearest future, atleast until
Summer.
Too bad, according to Colligan this handset "will be the
most competitive enterprise solution in the marketplace", and
could actually save Palm, which has a hard time surviving on the
smartphone market.

Sprint Palm Treo 755p owners will be glad to hear that there's a new firmware update available for their buggy handset. Reportedly, the new ROM v1.07 should improve "audio, stability, software quality and device usability", however there are no concrete update details published at this time, unfortunately. Anyway, MS Windows users can flash their device over HotSync or SD-card installation; Mac users can only use the SD-card installation method.
