Cingular is teaming with Nokia and Citigroup and MasterCard Worldwide to trial, from three to six months, new phones that have MasterCard PayPass contactless payment capability that will help the companies evaluate the speed and convenience of the "tap and go" payments using mobile phones. The participants will get a Nokia handset with "near-field communication" (NFC) technology and the MasterCard PayPass payment function built in.

Customers, with select handsets, now has the chance to use its mobile local search for free for 60 days as offered by InfoSpace. So, the InfoSpace Find It Java application includes GPS-enabled local search, spoken turn-by-turn directions, help in locating Wi-Fi hot spots, and local event listings, besides it offers up-to-date movie listings and the ability to make phone calls with one click instead of dialing a full number.

Next month Hiwire is going to launch its DVB-H trial in the 700 MHz spectrum in Las Vegas, T-Mobile USA early signed on to participation to form part of the high-profile trial although, with no further commitment with Hiwire. By the time of the trial in December Hiwire plans to have three or four different handsets available for the trial.
