Apple has released the new iPhone 2.0.2 firmware update. It is available for download now through iTunes and supposedly fixes some bugs, which Apple didn't name.

Samsung has released a major OTA software update for its Instinct handset. It is available now, and users will be notified about the need to update when running applications.

Picture Mail:

• Reduce system busy errors for large picturemails;
• Reduction of “408″ timeout errors when sending large picturemails;

Browser:

• Optimized vending machine shopping experience;
• More robust and user friendly access to Yahoo, Hotmail, Best Buy, YouTube;
• Remove feature that sent browser back one page with camera button;

Sprint TV/Radio:

• Optimizations to resolutions for streaming video playback;
• Reductions of pausing.

Today's a lucky day for Motorola Q9h owners, as the company has officially released a Windows Mobile 6.1 update for the handset. It is easy to install, and includes some new features and improves the device's overall performance.

What's the difference between Palm 700p (Verizon) and 700wx (Alltel) handsets anyway? I mean, why would Palm release two separate firmware upgrades for each of these, when they're the same? Anyway, as expected the company didn't give any details on what the patches actually fix, but it's always nice to know you have an up-to-date firmware running on your handset, right?

There's a new firmware update available over the air for North American Nokia N78 users. Just enter *#0000# while on the standby screen and then press 'check for updates'.

According to the first user comments, the Naviwheel became more sensitive and the right softkey now works all the time.

An updated firmware build version 1.93 for the HTC Touch Diamond has been released today in the UK and other European countries. The new ROM improves on camera navigation, text alert speed, tab-switching speed and a new city selector in the weather tab.

The iPhone Dev Team has released their Pwnage Tool 2.0.2 for the new iPhone firmware version 2.0.1. As expected it only jailbreaks the device.

Developers however advice not to update to the latest firmware build if you plan to unlock your handset with the future Pwnage Tool.

Be informed, that starting today all those who own an original unlocked (not carrier-branded) HTC handset or a UMPC can visit the support section of the respective device and download a new ROM update for it. Previously this was only available to HTC's e-Club members, who in their turn still have exclusive access to other downloadable goodies for their handsets.

MOTOMODDING has unearthed what they claim to be the official (yet unannounced) AT&T-branded Windows Mobile 6.1 ROM for the Motorola Q9h handset. What else can I say? Those risky ones can try the update now, otherwise I'd suggest everyone to wait for the official announcement, as it will follow up soon.

Sprint has released the first firmware update for the Samsung Instinct. The new version BF30 is said to include various bug fixes, though no specific details were given on what exactly it fixes.

Anyway, all willing can update their handset by going to Main > Settings > General > Update Phone.
