Apparently, Verizon Wireless will be releasing the new Samsung U900 FlipShot phone this Wednesday, on November 21. The new model looks like a successor to the a990 and despite being thin and lightweight still offers very decent multimedia capability. Some of the features include a 3Mpix camera, a swiveling display, external music controls, and TV out.

That fourth-generation, or 4G, broadband network will be geared to social networkers, among others... Sprint began advertising the new Motorola Q2, which is basically the same model as the Q9m from Verizon , just a bit customized. The phone should feature CDMA connectivity, Windows Mobile 6 OS, Bluetooth, miniSD slot, and 1.3Mpix camera. It will cost $150 with a 2-year agreement.

LG Voyager and Venus are now available for pre-order at the Verizon website. The current pricing is the following: - Black LG Venus: $199 with a 2-year contract and $369 at full retail
- LG Voyager: $299 with a 2-year contract and a $50 instant rebate; $469 at full retail
However, it is not clear yet when online orders for the Voyager will be shipped.

Verizon Wireless started offering the CDMA version of the Blackberry Pearl smartphone, which is the company's first ever CDMA handset. Features of the Pearl include support for dual-band EVDO (800/1900 MHz) network, integration with up to 10 e-mail accounts, a 2Mpix camera, and a 240x260 resolution screen.

Verizon has updated its INpulse prepaid plans, which include three basic daily access fees ranging between $0.99 and $2.99 (including per-minute fees). In addition, customers will have access to VCAST-enabled handsets and services. INpulse plans are available now, but keep in mind that they are for cell phone users only (smartphones and PDAs are not supported).

Verizon Wireless and T-Mobile USA are in talks with Google to use its upcoming OS in their future handsets. The search giant's mobile platform will be inexpensive and easily customizable, so carriers will be able to adapt it to their requirements. According to Wall Street Journal, Google will announce its new operation system in mid-November and the first handsets to feature it will be available in sometime in 2008.

We now have some details on the new LG Venus we mentioned in the beginning of October. It will come in black and pink colors and will feature two TFT displays (2" and 1.49"), integrated music player (MP3, WMA, AAC, and AAC+), 2Mpix camera, Bluetooth, 3G EVDO, and microSD slot (up to 8GB). The phone will be available from Verizon Wireless on November 19 for $200 after a $50 rebate and 2-year contract.

Verizon Wireless announced it will be donating $60.000 to California Red Cross to help victims of the recent wave of wildfires in the state. In addition, the company will provide its affected subscribers with free phone calls during some period of time. Well, it's very thoughtful of Verizon, but anyway, considering the scale of the disaster the money grant seems a bit low.
