Immersion announced that Nokia is now licensed for the use of its VibeTonz technology.

Currently this technology comes integrated in some of the Samsung's and LG's phones (including touchscreen models), and in Motorola's RAZR2.

VibeTonz provides vibration feedback for touchscreen interfaces, games, ringtones and other phone related uses.

The first touchscreen-based mobile phone in the world - The new Samsung SCH-W559 - announced by Immersion Corporation will use Immersion's VibeTonz® System to provide tactile feedback for touchscreen interactions.

The Samsung SCH-W559 has a large 260,000-color QVGA LCD touchscreen display for the data input. Immersion's VibeTonz System gives the possibility to the touchscreen-displayed buttons to be more like mechanical keys.
