WiMAX version of the Samsung Galaxy S2 appears to be headedto Japan.Its specs appear to remain somewhat similar to the Samsung Galaxy S2 HD LTE, with the main difference that instead of LTE, it will feature WiMAX connectivity instead.The Galaxy S2 WiMAX will feature a dual-core 1.4GHz processor, a 4.7” 1280×720 Super AMOLED HD display, an 8MP rear-facing camera, a 2MP front-facing camera, a microSD card slot, NFC support, 16GB of internal memory and will run on Android 2.

Recently HTC and Sprint have started to roll out an update that supposedly fixes the security flaws that was discovered a while back.However HTC may have to issue another one security update, exclusively for HTC EVO family of smartphones.It turns out that WiMax is even more open than the HTC logger app. An attacker who gains control over this can potentially manipulate data connectivity and to go even as far as being able to completely reprogram your device’s CDMA parameters remotely.

Sprint getting Motorola Atrix with WiMaX 4G

It seems like Sprint is planning to get the Motorola Atrix. And it will come with WiMax 4G.

So, if the rumor becomes true, the Atrix will be the next big handset for Sprint after the EVO 4G.

The device is going to be announced the next month along the side of Motorola Xoom.

HTC EVO 4G coming to Japan

HTC's EVO 4G persists as one of the best phones on the American market well over half a year since its release on Sprint, and it's just now getting ready to take its 4.3-inch, Snapdragon-powered act international.

The phone is coming on Japan's big CDMA carrier, KDDI au, as the EVO WiMAX ISW11HT, and is going to be carrying over the WiMAX radio.

Sprint Samsung Epic 4G Now Available

WiMAX 2 coming in 2012?

According to Declan Byrne, marketing director of the WiMAX Forum, the WiMAX 2 standard could be finalized by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) as early as November 2010. WiMAX 2, also known as 802.16m, should be available end users sometime in 2012, and it will deliver "average downlink speeds of more than 100Mbps," according to Computer World. With such speeds the said technology will be able to rival against long term evolution (LTE) 4G networks that will be established by Verizon and AT&T by that time frame.

Sprint is now accepting pre-orders for its upcoming Samsung Epic 4G smartphone. It is an Android 2.1 powered device with a 1GHz Cortex-A8 Hummingbird CPU, slide-out QWERTY keyboard, 5Mpix camera with LED flash and 720p HD video recording, and support for Sprint's 4G WiMAX network.

The price is $249.99 with a two-year service agreement, after a $100 mail-in rebate.

Sprint announced the pricing and availability details for its second Android WiMAX handset, the Samsung Epic 4G. The phone will be available starting August 31 in all Sprint retail channels, as well as in RadioShack, Best Buy, and Walmart, and will cost you $249.99 with a 2-year contract, after a $100 mail-in rebate.

Sprint and Clearwire announced 18 more markets that will gain its WiMax wireless network this summer. WiMax will be launched during the summer months in Nashville, Tenn.; Daytona, Orlando and Tampa, Fla.; Rochester and Syracuse, N.Y.; Merced, Modesto, Stockton, and Visalia, Calif.; Wilmington, Del.; Grand Rapids, Mich.; Eugene, Ore.; and Yakima and Tri-Cities, Wash.
