If you're a member of the Windows Phone Preview for Developers program, build 8.10.14176 is now being pushed out to you by Microsoft.The update includes performance improvements and bug fixes. The build should clear up the 80188308 error that some Windows Phone users were seeing while trying to install Windows Phone 8.1 on their phones.Other problems fixed include the inability of the HTC 8X and HTC 8S to receive the Windows Phone 8.

Groupon for Windows Phone has been updated to v4.0. The new version adds a shopping cart, a dedicated "Nearby" tab to help you find local offers, and the ability to search from anywhere within the app.Though, the bad news is that Lumia owners are going to have to wait a bit more for the new features since the Lumia-exclusive version of the app is yet to be updated.

Microsoft's next Windows Phone flagship, codenamed "McLaren", is coming to Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile this fall.The device will be a successor to the Nokia Lumia 1020 and will also come with a spectacular camera.The latest rumors around this mysterious device also suggest that it will be implementing a 3D Touch system, that works in a similar way to Microsoft's Kinect.This technology will remain exclusive to Microsoft's devices and won't grace the Windows Phone-powered devices of other manufacturers.

Microsoft has finally launched the file manager app for Windows Phone.Windows Phone system files remain inaccessible by the application, which is kinda expected as it prevents users from accidentally deleting stuff they don’t want to; which further leads to increased support costs.What’s missing though is integration with cloud-based services. We haven’t expected to see support for Dropbox and Box.

Microsoft is working with folks behind the Pebble smart watch to make it compatible with Windows Phone devices.It’s still not clear when we’ll see the fruits of this co-operation, but we tend to think some beta app will be out sooner rather than later.It should come with Pebble’s own app store, allowing folks to extend the functionality of their smart watch with third-party apps.

Microsoft is apparently working to make Windows Phones compatible with hi-res 2K screens and next-gen chips.A Windows Phone device marked as Qualcomm LiQUID has been caught at GFXBench, and from its listing we learn that it will come with a 2K / QHD screen and Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chip.Unfortunately, the listing at GFXBench’s website has been promptly removed so it’s difficult to confirm the manufacturer.

WhatsApp, the app that many people are familiar with, would be one of those indispensable apps that you ought to install.
