Multi-screen platform from Comcast allows wireless to video distribution service

A new multi-screen platform allowing content to be distributed via television, online and through wireless devices from Comcast Corp.. will be revealed next week As was announced by John Alchin, executive vice president and co-chief financial officer for Comcast the new platform will initially provide Halloween-related content such as horror movies when launched on Tuesday.

Flash Lite application on Verizon Wireless

It was announced by Verizon Wireless that "Flash Lite for BREW," by Adobe Systems and Qualcomm, will allow Flash content to run on its high-level phones. Flash ecosystem provides flexibility to the mobile developer community to create content with Flash applications, screensavers and casual games for the BREW solution.

You can buy applications and automatically "Flash enable" your phone, software will be upgraded over-the-air with an automatic download when you access Flash-enabled content.

Alcatel income slipped off wireless sales

Profits of Alcatel Inc. dropped 42 percent because sales of wireless network decreased. The company net income is just $194 million after a profit of $334 million a year-ago. Annual income increased 1.4 percent year-over-year from $4.13 billion in 2005 to $4.19 billion for the same period in 2006. Sales slipped from last year's 1.372 billion to $1.249 billion. Serge Tchuruk, Alcatel's chief executive officer stated that the decrease in earnings was partly because Alcatel's customers were not eager to buy third-generation network equipment before the close of the French company's acquisition of Lucent Technologies Inc.

Redesigned Web site from Cingular Wireless

Having redesigned their Web site Cingular Wireless L.L.C. launched its new version after cutting off some of the previous page's many links making it cleaner. Referring to the words of Cingular spokesman Ritch Blasi the site now looks more visually aesthetic which makes it easier for customers to access the products and services, also he mentioned that Cingular wants to increase the traffic to its Web site.

Verizon Wireless Motorola RAZR MAXX announced

A Verizon Wireless branded Motorola RAZR MAXX (that was announced in June along with the KRZR and RIZR ) promotional image became known, with some rumors that a CDMA version of the phone is coming. The MAXX was introduced as a new 3G folder with touch sensitive external music controls. CDMA RAZR MAXX features cannot yet be confirmed

The GSM version features:

  • a QVGA screen,
  • microSD card slot,
  • Bluetooth
  • 50MB memory
  • a 2-megapixel camera.

Nokia 6215i launched by Verizon Wireless

Verizon Wireless has launched the Nokia 6215i. Despite the Nokia branding, the 6215i is actually made by Pantech and originally went by the moniker PN-315. Nokia's CDMA strategy has been up in the air after Nokia called off a proposed partnership with Sanyo. Nokia has a contract with Pantech to brand two handsets, the 6215i and the 6315i. Nokia's new CEO is committed to succeeding in the US market, but without a serious CDMA play the company can't reach half of the country.
