Samsung to Offer Yahoo! Services by Default This Summer

Starting this summer Samsung phones running the company's own Bada operating system or Google's Android OS will have native support for Yahoo's services, such as Search, Mail, Messenger, Contacts and Calendar, as well as the photo service Flickr. The first devices pre-loaded with Yahoo! services will be introduced next month.

Yahoo! oneConnect

Yahoo oneConnect is a new communication tool within the Yahoo Go 3.0 mobile search application.

It offers features like threaded IM and SMS messaging, a new address book that can be integrated with social networking sites such as MySpace, and tools to help follow your favourite blogs.

oneConnect also has open APIs, so developers will be able to create plug-ins for the application.

Send SMS from Yahoo Mail to Mobile Phones!

Now Yahoo subscribers will be able to send SMS messages to mobile phones directly from their Yahoo Mail account via the new IM interface.

The new service is available in United States, Canada, India and the Philippines.

However, while sending web-SMS from YMail is free of charge, mobile phone users will incur carrier messaging charges for receiving messages and responding via SMS.

A new Internet search system for mobile phone users was announced by Yahoo thus putting Yahoo one step forward of what Google can offer. AT&T and Yahoo Announce Digital Photo-Sharing Service

AT&T and Yahoo today launched an upgrade of their photo service. The new version is geared toward making it easier for subscribers to share photos over PCs and mobile devices.

AT&T Yahoo Photos will include features such as photo-tagging and online "playlists" of photos that automatically recognize and add tagged photos to online albums.

According to InfoTrends, the total number of online photo service users is expected to grow from 55 million in 2004 to 83 million in 2009.
