The latest word around the block is the upcoming Lumia flagship will be called 940 instead of 1030. In other words, we may be looking at a 930 follow-up, not a 1020 sequel.
Also weird – the internal Nokia supplier factory screenshot dug up by Phone Arena lists the pre-installed software as Windows Phone 10. There are a couple of things wrong with that. One, WP 10 is many months away from an official rollout. Maybe close to a year. And two, we don’t believe MS plans to christen it Windows Phone 10, but rather unite it with the desktop variant and call both Windows 10.
Another sign pointing to the leaked document possibly maybe being a fake is the 5-inch 1,080p display is said to be covered in Gorilla Glass 4. Also unreleased, the toughened glass could debut around the same time as Win 10.
Bottom line, our best case scenario here is the information spill is legit, but the earliest the Lumia 940 could drop is next summer. With a beastly 2.7 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 805 processor, 3 GB RAM, 32, 64 and 128 GB internal storage options and, hold on to your hats, a 24 megapixel PureView camera with 4K video recording capabilities.
