Android 5.0 has slowly made its way to all Nexus family members, so naturally, Google Play Edition devices are next in line.
You’d think so, given Google assured us it would handle software support directly when rolling these low-cost Nexus equivalents out in India a couple of months back. Only the CEO of Spice just told local media “we plan to provide Lollipop in our Android One devices around January 2015.
Spice, mind you, is the producer of the Dream Uno, one of three Android One handhelds released as part of the project’s first availability wave. Big G’s other two hardware-making partners, Micromax and Karbonn, didn’t confirm or deny the timeline for their Canvas A1 and Sparkle V respectively.
But our basic logic and common sense tells us the three will get 5.0 firmwares simultaneously. After all, they’re identical hardware-wise, and Google wouldn’t want anyone to think they’re playing favorites.
