Motorola announced
yesterday it will split in two separate companies, Mobile Devices,
which is currently Motorola's mobile phone unit, and Broadband &
Mobility Solutions.
The deal is expected to close in 2009. According
to the company's CEO Greg Brown, the reason for split is the
following: "Creating two industry-leading companies will provide
improved flexibility, more tailored capital structures, and increased
management focus - as well as more targeted investment opportunities
for our shareholders."
