Cingular Wireless, cellular operator, announced about dealing with banks to let its customers manage their money by cell phone as part of a push to expand phone use beyond talking. Users will have the possibility to use the banking feature to view account balances, transfer funds and pay bills on their cell phones by downloading an application that Cingular is testing. Cingular isn't going to charge a separate fee for the feature in order to stimulate users to sign up for data service subscriptions and help Cingular win new subscribers. Cingular had a conversation with some banks, but there are any names of banks.
Cingular is going to launch the application commercially in early 2007.
