Casio, Hitachi and NEC have agreed to merge their respective mobile phone divisions into one single entity. NEC will initially own 66% of the said joint venture. In their view, combining their technology and resources will help them better compete in the home market of Japan, as well as abroad. The companies plan to complete the unification by April 2010.
